Politics, Protests and the People: An Evolution of Political Influence

Taksim Square Protest

The recent events of NSA spying, the scandal of IRS targeting, Obama’s drone wars and the Taksim Square protests in Turkey have only helped to further illuminate the growing rift between the global political system and it’s People. We the people of the world have become a caged bird squawking at our freedom through the bars of our conditioning.  The People’s hopes have been hung out to dry, becoming tattered and torn in the winds of a so-called “change”. In the ashes of our disappointment, a renovated “hope” will once again rise to be sold in its place. Continuing the conversation and further sustaining our controller’s financial and political pursuits for another 4 to 8 years. Faced with this disappointment there are still many conditioned citizens, fiends of a fraudulent Freedom, which continue to be doped up and addicted to an illusion of social progress, awaiting their next fix of political heroes and heroines.  And while many will likely rush out to the polls next election to get a fix of gender equality, as female hopefuls like Hillary Clinton and others make their way to the main stage, there is fortunately a growing number of individuals that have begun to recognize the political pageantry and posturing put forth by our so-called leaders of the free world.  How long will we allow these pushers of pre-packaged progress to hold sway over our ideas and beliefs?

This culture of corruption in the world has climbed to new heights and has begun breaking down the controls and conditioning that have captured the hearts of the people for far too long.  The credibility of our controllers has become laughable and the people are beginning to look to their leaders with disdain and disbelief, rather than with pride and praise.  Everyday we come ever closer to the realization that no one can represent us, in the same way that we can represent ourselves. A new evolution in human consciousness is upon us and we look to new ways to break old molds.  Information will be our saving grace in our pursuit for true democracy, in this political landscape which hinges upon the deceptive practices of its contributors.

As the democratization of information continues to revolutionize the cultural constructs of yesterdays past, we stand on the cusp of a new epoch in the intellectual development of the human species and thankfully 2 Billion plus people around the world are now apart of a global conversation.  A conversation which informs, entertains, and documents the story of the people.  The technological manifestations of our intellect are changing the ways with which we interact with each other and the world.  American engineer and Intel entrepreneur Peter Diamandis has explained that new technologies will soon democratize production globally, leading to a new paradigm of abundance. In this same thread we are seeing a democratization of political power and influence as well, which is leading to an abundance of information and innovation. The death of history lies on the horizon as the global village begins to document their own story, narrating their own past, present and future, free from the hands of a dominant class.

While this normalization of power proliferates, it continues to present new and unexpected challenges for the political paradigm of our global society. We as a collective are beginning to realize the true nature of our influence and are beginning to exercise that influence as a path to political, social and economic change. Modern finance is evolving as we attempt to free it from the bondage of banking institutions and government controls with the advent of new money technologies like that of Bitcoin. The internet is developing new voices which have never before been heard, that now echo across the airwaves and inhabit the brainwaves of street rats and fat cats alike.

Change is in the chatter, so let us join the conversation and evolve. Our growing collective is manifesting new realities by the minute which we then reinvent, refine and re-define for the global community.  This global conversation is projecting new ideologies everyday into the ether of the internet for each of us to consume, transform, and re-innovate for further reproduction.  We are living on the cusp of an intellectual infinite where every person on the earth will have the ability to access information, incorporate innovations, and proliferate their own progress into the human story being laid out in front of us all. We are here to bear witness to a great revolution in the human spirit where a change of guard awaits us, in a future of self-representation and self-expression. So let us create our place in the hallways of history, by speaking the Truth, fighting for Freedom and collectively developing a reality which reflects the true nature of our ideals.  Tune out of the Tyranny, turn onto the Truth and drop out of a system that has nothing to do with who you are.  Stand for yourself and for those around you, and let us change the world.

Food, Politics, and the March Against Monsanto

march1

The seeds of a multi-billion dollar corporate coupe de tat have been sown in the fields of our political landscape. Our government, bought by an industry that continues to feed poison to the masses, while our leaders feed lies to the People. The poisoning of our environment, our food, and now our politics is at the hands of Monsanto, the Agricultural Biotech giant who is responsible for one of the world’s largest supplies of genetically modified organisms and genetically engineered seed products. Providing some of the largest food companies in the world with these genetically engineered products, including household names such as Coca-Cola, General Mills, Nabisco, and others. Monsanto has long been a source of criticism and controversy due to the unsavory tactics it adopts while fighting family owned farms and grass roots food producers over ownership rights of their engineered seeds. In addition to their bullying of small time suppliers, and producing GMO’s they are also known for their infamous products like DDT and Agent Orange, both of which have had devastating effects on humans and the environment with no initial oversight.

In March of this year, bill  H.R. 933  also known as the Monsanto Protection Act written by Monsanto Sponsored Senator Roy Blunt, was signed into law by President Obama, and as the ink stained the page, so too would our long legacy of upholding the Law and Justice also be stained, once again by the hands of the  corrupted. So now with the signing of this bill, Monsanto finds themselves in another firestorm of controversy surrounding the new law which protects them and their farmers from litigation, if adverse health effects stem from their engineered products. Given the track record of poisons made by Monsanto and the devastation it has previously caused the world, it is extremely irresponsible for our government to now allow this company to continue producing new products without government oversight and the fear of legal repercussions.   H.R.933 is just another example in a long list of corporate driven bills that have passed the desks of our leaders in an attempt to give unnecessary protections to multi-billion dollar corporations, against the will of the People.

“We the People” continue to lose out to the Way of the Profit.  Perpetual Progress continues to hold the reigns of a world which consists of limited resources and unlimited desires, with profit-hungry companies like Monsanto continuing to push science towards a world of abundance.  Although the abundance they seek, is in direct contrast to the interests and the will of the People. To answer the call, the People’s growing voice of dissent has caught the ears of at least one politician who attempted this week on Thursday to repeal the measure in H.R. 933 that grants Monsanto and others this unwarranted protection.  Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon offered an amendment to the bill which was immediately halted by Monsanto employee-Senator Blunt and others.  In addition to the failing amendment the U.S. Senate has just shot down a bill to label GMO foods, a measure that has been adopted by Europe, Brazil, Australia and many others. Our government continues to show its favor for the will of the corporation over the will of the people, further illustrating a greater problem that is growing throughout the world. It is the problem of corporate-controlled dictatorship-style governance which has become a poison to the global political landscape.

So in response to this growing problem over 200,000 in 40 countries will gather this weekend to protest against the food giant and stand up against corporate despotism.  We must all join the effort against these titans and show our support for a change in how our food is produced.  We must also begin to represent ourselves instead of allowing politicians to represent corporate interests.  So Stand and Be Heard!  March Against Monsanto at your local city hall today May 25th, 2013 at 2pm EST.  Join the Movement!

Bitcoins, Bullion and the Battle for Economic Dominance

Bitcoin Magazine

Bitcoin Magazine

As the global economy continues to be the topic of interest and concern, the people of the world search tirelessly for an answer to the never-ending  crisis of economic confidence.  Gold has been a safe-haven for many people who fear that the corruption of global government and the mishandlings of our money masters will soon sink the floating currencies of a toppling global economy.  Although gold has served our economic endeavors time immemorial, it unfortunately shares the same trappings of the other controlled currencies within this global economy.  In the case of gold, the fixing of its price is determined daily by five of the most powerful banking institutions in the entire world. These also just happen to be a few of the same banking institutions that have played pivotal roles in the creation of our current financial predicament. Just as gold pricing is fixed by the gurus of modern finance so too are the floating currencies of the world, which find their footing in the foreign exchange market, which relies entirely upon the interdependence of the foreign exchange rates of the day.  In a global community whose faith in financial institutions and governmental guidings is swiftly fading, likewise the controlled currencies and gold fixings of those institutions are fading alongside them as well.  We are left with a single question in response to this declining confidence – If not this system, then what?  Could it be that the answer to that question lies within the ever-expanding and enlightening conversation of the internet?

Over the past decade there has been a revolution happening within the minds of the global citizen.  Each of us, everyday, is being empowered, we are realizing that no longer are our ideas confined to the rhetoric of experts and talking heads, but instead we can be the experts of our own experience.  We are now finally in control of the conversation.  The governments of the world are finding it harder and harder to sell citizens the necessity of representative governance, this is because the people are coming closer and closer to the realization that they can now represent themselves more freely than any corporate shill can. The proliferation of ideas and the empowerment of the average person is all well and good you say, but what exactly does that have to do with gold and floating currencies?

In 2011, Adrien Chen at Gawker wrote an article about an underground website called “the Silk Road” that is facilitating the black market transactions of a budding internet drug trade.  For many people like myself this would be the first time that we would  be introduced to the Silk Road as well as a new currency that was being used on the site called bitcoin.  Bitcoin is a crypto-currency and in addition to being used on the internet for illegal transactions is also being used for many other purposes as well.  Vendors that accept Bitcoin range from the online drug dealer to the local dry-cleaners.  Bitcoin, recently has gained the interest of the global community because of the sudden rise in its value over the past few months.  In January one bitcoin was trading at around $15.00, as of this post the bitcoin is trading at $126.20 on Mt. Gox and over the past few days the price has been perpetually rising.

One of the more interesting aspects of this new currency is that it is not controlled by any government nor banking institution, but rather it is a digital currency that relies upon an open source, person to person, network of transactions.  Bitcoin, in this way is providing a new global currency that is not only free of failing governments and the trappings of global banking institutions, but also mirrors the new paradigm of the internet community which includes innovations such as crowd-sourcing, open-source programming, free file-sharing, etc.  If the internet and the information revolution has taught us anything over the past decade, it is that the decentralization of power has led to an expansion of possibilities and new ideas.

So, in the case of our money, will we merely be destined to be the perpetual purchasers of interest-laden toxic currencies provided to us by the powers that be, or will the future of our financial maneuverings find the freedom that our ideas are only now beginning to enjoy?  Bitcoin, with its promise of anonymity, and its disconnection from centralized banks and governments is providing users with freedom that is seldom experienced in the court of finances and greed.  In the battle for economic dominance, bitcoin ultimately may provide the people with the power and freedom to dictate the strength of their own economy, instead of depending upon the inflationary illusions of our modern money magicians.

Although, Bitcoin very well may not be the answer to our current economic problems, it is a de-centralized currency that’s price is finalized by the free transactions of a global internet community.  If anything, this provides us with a new way of looking at how we handle money and ultimately how we manage the distribution of wealth and power.  Bitcoin is a mark of a new economic revolution, cultivated in the conversations of a cypherpunk community, interested in the freedom and privacy of all people.  Let us continue the conversation.

NDAA, Drone Strikes and the Death of Freedom

Gallows

It could be argued that the United States began it’s descent decades ago, spiraling out of control into the depths of its own misconduct and manipulation.  But, there is one distinct moment that lives on in the collective memory that marks the fall of an Empire of Freedom & Justice, it was the moment on September 11, 2001 at 9:59 am when the south tower fell and with it fell the idealism and aspirations of a young country.  In that moment the world was united, but soon the whole world would witness the decline of an American century, the degradation of an American value system steeped in a long history of Justice, Equality & Freedom.

The next year would bring the Patriot Act and the establishment of the Guantanamo Bay Detention center. The trauma and tragedy of a single event would bring forth a new era of American oppression and like the shifting scenes of a bad dream, Americans would find themselves struggling to keep up with an ever-changing landscape of an American legal system that was slowly doing away with the Bill of Rights.  Propaganda would propel the delusions of an entire nation that struggled to believe that they still stood for Freedom and Justice.

Almost an entire decade would be dedicated to the pursuits of war and terror, but the Presidential elections of 2008 would bring a reinvigoration of hope to the nation.  Promises of peace and diplomacy were the rhetoric of the day, but time would soon turn the tide on the political pandering of the populace.  We have now come to witness what the peace and diplomacy of this administration has to offer. We continue to lose rights with draconian laws like that of the  NDAA with its indefinite detentions and the death of Habeus Corpus.

In addition to the provisions of the NDAA, drone strikes on foreign nations are stretching the limits of International humanitarian law and show blatant disregard for the Geneva Conventions.  Americans now stand knee deep in the blood of 4,700 dead from these drone strikes, 178 of which are dead children, while civilian deaths have been reported as high as 800.   If our declarations of war upon foreign nations were not enough, our leaders now deem it legal to use lethal force on American citizens on U.S. soil.

Following a 13 hour filibuster concerning this issue, Thursday Senator Rand Paul declared victory when he received notice from Attorney General Eric Holder that the President would not use lethal force on “non-combatant” United States citizens.  Unfortunately, I do not share Senator Paul’s enthusiasm, as this still leaves the door open for the possibility of lethal force against American citizens.  This elaborate dog and pony show only assumes the act of opposition and provides one more public presentation of legal justification for the unconstitutional acts of a despotic leadership.

This marks a new era in American politics.  The battlefield now on American shores and a declaration of war made by the Government against its own citizens.   With questionable war tactics and failed human rights policies we join the ranks of the oppressors of history, a new chapter in the book of tyrants who have made it their practice of showing indifference to the world.  Kings attempt to masquerade as common men, but no mask can hide the true intentions of a tyrant.  Freedom hangs in the gallows and the citizens of the world look on with disgust.  We must rise against the despotism of the new American war machine otherwise we too will hang alongside Freedom in the gallows.

The Search for Self and the Art of Becoming

if2207_gotchange_th_1

The human condition is a volatile and unforgiving endeavor and for most of us we find ourselves swept into the undulating waves of change.  It is Change which is the only constant for many of us, as we watch the scene, plot and characters of our story evolve in front of our eyes.  We ride upon the violent waters of our life in hopes of climbing the rising tide, but the storm riddled waters remind us of our  mortality and for many this reality can be paralyzing.  The passing scenes and fruitless dreams become the story that we manufacture; it is our attempt to breathe meaning into the dusty corners of our hallways, these meaningless stretches of our existence, soon brought to life with the aid of human imagination.  Our stories become larger with each telling and we become the story that we have woven with our words.  Our memories are no longer remnants of factual evidence but rather become chimeric contrivances of the imagination.  Memory becomes the unintentional lie with which we fabricate our life story.  So what is our Truth? Can we know the truth of our life in memories and dreams?  Can we believe the dreams of a future unwritten and do the memories of an evolving past give us any indication as to the nature of our true self?  This cannot be who we are but rather who we wish to be, these stories assist us in constructing an illusion of self.  Who we are has nothing to do with our past, that is only who we were and can never be again, as the moment has already passed.  Who we are, is what is happening right now.  So who are you?  Are you the person you wish to be? If you must answer by telling the past or dreaming a future, then you have yet to become.  We are all in the act of becoming and who we are has to do with the choices we make.  Become the greatness that you seek and dream only when you sleep, as the present is passing and if left unattended shall become the story at your wake.  Ride the rising tide of your life and pay no attention to the deep waters of despair and dread.  Have the courage to stand, when asked to sit, speak when all are quiet, act as if your life depended on it, because the truth is, it does depend on it.  Every action lays the foundation of your self and it requires only action for you true story to be told.  Let the works of your life create the story that you seek and don’t give in to the resistance, because destiny is not for the weak.
